BLN Fashion Week puts the best black designers in the spotlight. The Awards ceremony brings together major players in the fashion community to recognize black fashion brands and individuals who have inspired fashion in the people of color community and has demonstrated a high level of craftsmanship in the construction of their fashion collection pieces. As well as for community contributions. They are awarded by a jury of recognised experts from the world of fashion.
Trailblazer Awards
The Trailblazers Awards are a highlight of BLN Fall Fashion Week, recognizing individuals and brands making significant contributions to the fashion world. The Trailblazers Awards will take place on April 23, marking the end of the first day of BLN Fashion Week at 7:00 PM. The honorees will accept the award as part of the live stream, making it an unforgettable moment during this extraordinary event.
Legends Award
Janelle Commissiong will be honored in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the world of fashion and her unwavering advocacy for black rights and world peace.
Janelle Commissiong, crowned as the first Miss Black Universe in 1977, has been a trailblazer and advocate for positive change, leaving an indelible mark on the fashion industry and society as a whole. Her outstanding achievements continue to inspire new generations of designers and advocates for social change.
Emerging Technology
Lenny Adams' Toli 360, the revolutionary retail mirror, designed to measure clothing on any body type, will be honored with the Emerging Technology Award. In addition to allowing the user to try on clothes virtually the mirror’s four built-in cameras can also be utilized for creating TikToks and recording YouTube videos, perfect for today's fashion consumer.
Icons Award
FUBU Founders Daymond John, Keith Perrin, J. Alexander Martin, and Carl Brown will be presented with the prestigious Icon Award during the Trailblazers Awards. This award ceremony is a key highlight of BLN Fall Fashion Week, celebrating and recognizing those who have made a significant impact in the fashion industry.
Designer Awards
On April 27 at 7pm to close out Fall Fashion Week, the Designer Awards will be announced. Featured Fall Fashion Week Designers will be awarded in several categories, including best in their fashion category, Rising Star, Fashion Sustainability, and Social Justice, by special guest judges. The guest judges include celebrity stylists, fashion industry insiders, and fashion icons. To close out the awards, the Outstanding Collection winner, voted on by BLN Members.
